A Guide to Choosing Your Lifting Belt Size

Getting the right fit for your lifting belt is crucial for both comfort and support. Our belts feature 12 adjustment holes, offering an even wider range of versatility. This guide will help you select the ideal size so you can make the most of this enhanced adjustability.

Step 1: How to Accurately Measure Your Core

What you'll need: A flexible measuring tape.

What to do: Measure around your midsection where the belt will actually sit. This is typically around your navel or slightly above.

Important:

  • Measure with your clothes on (the typical light clothing you'd wear under a belt).
  • Keep the tape snug, but don't pull it so tight that it digs into your skin. Relax your abdomen; don't suck in or push out.
  • Crucially, do NOT use your pant size or general waist size. Lifting belts sit differently, and this measurement needs to be specific to your core.

Step 2: Understanding Our Sizing – Aim for the Middle!

Once you have your core measurement, refer to our size chart below. Because our belts offer significant adjustability with 12 holes, we recommend choosing a size where your measurement falls roughly in the middle of that size's range.

Why aim for the middle? This approach provides you with the most flexibility:

  • You can tighten or loosen the belt according to your preference for different exercises.
  • It accommodates any slight changes in your body weight over time.
  • It allows room if you decide to wear the belt over thicker clothing layers or a neoprene support belt.

Our Size Chart:

Size INCHES CENTIMETERS
S 23 - 31” 58 - 79 cm
M 27 - 35” 69 - 89 cm
L 31 - 39” 79 - 99 cm
XL 35 - 43” 89 - 109 cm
XXL 39 - 47” 99 - 119 cm
XXXL 43 - 51” 109 - 130 cm

Step 3: Examples Using Our Size Chart

Let's see how the "aim for the middle" rule works with some examples:

Example 1: Your core measurement is 31 inches.

  • Size S (23-31"): 31" is at the very top end of this range.
  • Size M (27-35"): The middle of this range is (27+35)/2 = 31". Your measurement is right in the middle!
  • Size L (31-39"): 31" is at the very bottom end of this range.

Recommendation: For a 31-inch measurement, Size M is the ideal choice as it places you in the middle of the adjustment range, giving you maximum flexibility with the 12 holes.

Example 2: Your core measurement is 29 inches.

  • Size S (23-31"): The middle is 27". 29" is slightly above the middle of this range. This means you'll have plenty of holes to tighten further if needed, and a good number to loosen.
  • Size M (27-35"): The middle is 31". 29" is towards the lower end of this range. You'll have fewer holes to tighten further but many to loosen.

Recommendation: For a 29-inch measurement:

  • Size S puts you at (29-23)/(31-23) = 6/8 = 75% of the way through its stated range.
  • Size M puts you at (29-27)/(35-27) = 2/8 = 25% of the way through its stated range.

Both sizes could work due to the overlap and the 12-hole adjustability. However, Size S positions you closer to the middle of its range (29" is 2" from the middle of S, which is 27"), giving you a balanced adjustment in both directions. If you anticipate significant growth or prefer a lot of room to loosen, M could be considered, but S generally offers a more centered starting point for adjustability.

Example 3: Your core measurement is 37 inches.

  • Size L (31-39"): The middle of this range is (31+39)/2 = 35". 37" is slightly above the middle.
  • Size XL (35-43"): The middle of this range is (35+43)/2 = 39". 37" is slightly below the middle.

Recommendation: For a 37-inch measurement:

  • In Size L, you are 2 inches above its middle (37" vs 35" mid).
  • In Size XL, you are 2 inches below its middle (37" vs 39" mid).

Both are excellent candidates, placing you near the center of their respective ranges. If you prefer a belt that feels snugger from the get-go or anticipate potentially slimming down, Size L could be a good fit. If you anticipate any growth, frequently layer clothing, or simply want to ensure maximum room to expand while still having tightening options, Size XL would be a very safe and versatile choice. With 12 holes, both sizes will offer significant adjustability around your 37" measurement.

Still Unsure?
